What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is a skin-enhancing treatment that contains hyaluronic acid that we have naturally in the skin. The property of hyaluronic acid is that it attracts moisture, lubricates the skin, and stimulates the formation of new elastin and collagen. When we lose hyaluronic acid, the skin becomes flabby and wrinkled. When we inject hyaluronic acid under the skin, this stimulates the skin to produce more moisture, elastin and collagen. This gives a skin that is smoother, firmer, has smaller lines and wrinkles and gets more glow.
What is the difference between Profhilo and Filler?
Hyaluronic acid is an unstable long chain sugar molecule. When injected in the skin in its original form, it will disappear from the body after 24 hours. A filler is a hyaluronic acid that has been modified or changed minimally to make it last longer in the skin. Fillers have different particle sizes, which allows one to build volume or contour a face. Profhilo consists of short and long sugar molecule chains and therefore has a longer life than natural hyaluronic acid. Profhilo does not have it same property as a filler when it gets into the skin. Profhilo does not create volume or change the look.
The treatment
The treatment is performed by injection with 5 small punctures on each side of the face, or 10 points on the neck.
Profhilo is one of the products on the market that have the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid in them. The product spreads on the face, and you often notice an improvement and an increased moisture level already after the first treatment. This is a completely superficial injection treatment, and right after the treatment you can see small balls in the skin that will disappear in the course of a day.
Recommended treatments are 2-3 depending on age and needs, with an interval of 4 weeks.
Maintenance every 6 months.
